Jim Harrington Profile

Jim Harrington has served as Chief Human Resource Officer in Global Human Resources for over 25 years. Most recently with Synaptics until 2013, previous organizations include BroadVision,  Norand, Panda Management, Capitol Records, Syncor International, Allied/Signal and Rockwell International.

In January 2013 Jim launched his own global retained search company focused on executive searches in Technology and Medical Industries. Through his Human Resource experience he views executive search differently than many other firms. Based on a series of 1:1 meetings with C level executives and his own experience, he differentiates his search practice with in depth cultural assessment for match and target alignment, an integrated, aligned and crisp interview assessment roadmap for his clients, and an in depth integration process with personal follow through with candidates and the decision makers and the evaluation team facilitated by Jim for 6 months.

Jim’s accomplishments in talent acquisition using change management has been his key success. Playing a major role in organization change, Jim led many talent searches at the C level that were viewed as strategic moves affecting the business, culture and industry. He was successful from sourcing to developing integration plans. Examples include: CEO and COO searches at Syncor, Panda and Synaptics; General Management roles at BroadVision, Panda and Synaptics; CFO roles at BroadVision and Accelerant; CSA roles in Norand, BroadVision, and Synaptics; Corporate Development, SVP Engineering roles at Sitera and Synaptics; and CHRO roles at Norand, BroadVision and Hypercomm. CIO roles at BroadVision and Synaptics. Most searches were done directly by Jim, especially the CEO, COO, CFO, CHRO, Corporate Development, General Manager and Manufacturing/Supply Chain roles and Board of Director roles.

Jim created highly effective assessment processes in global organizations with capabilities to source and select “winners” in North America, APAC and EMEA. The executive capture rates, retention, time to fill and business KPIs were measures of success in targeted selection process. He also differentiated his searches by targeting behavior/competency based on the culture, building engagement and integration into the recruiting solution, aligning the new executives with the existing team.

In preparing for his new search career mission, Jim views a boutique firm as a competitive edge in external talent acquisition. He has continuously engaged in building strong professional contacts, networks and professional industry knowledge, allowing him to reach influential professional contacts when sourcing global candidates. He is passionate about aligning talent and clients that have a need for best in class leadership, innovation and “fit” in their respective markets and locations. Uniquely, he acquires top leadership talent through qualitative and quantitative assessment methodologies and tools. Jim balances ‘IQ and EQ” to assess candidates with targeted competencies, domain expertise, fit and style. He recently was certified in 4 leadership assessment tools to best prepare him in his new career.
