Jim’s accomplishments using change management in talent acquisition have been key to his success. Playing a major role in organization change, Jim led many talent searches at the C level that were viewed as strategic moves affecting the business, culture, and industry.

Examples include: CEO and COO searches at Syncor, Panda, and Synaptics; General Management roles at BroadVision, Panda, and Synaptics; CFO roles at BroadVision, UICO, Author Solutions, and Accelerant; CRO roles at Norand, BroadVision, and Synaptics; Corporate Development and SVP Engineering roles at BroadVision, Sitera, and Synaptics; Marketing roles at Synaptics, Author Solutions, and BroadVision; CHRO roles at Concentrix, HZO, Giesecke and Devrient, Commvault, BroadVision, and Hypercomm; and CIO roles at BroadVision and Synaptics. Most searches were done directly by Jim including the CEO, COO, CFO, CHRO, Corporate Development, General Manager, and Manufacturing/Supply Chain roles, as well as Board of Director positions.

In January 2013 Jim launched HARRINGTON SEARCH as a global retained search company. It has broadly expanded from its initial focus primarily on executive searches in Technology and Medical Industries to a range including BPO, Financial Services, Publishing, Defense, Hospitality, and Gaming. Through his Human Resources background, he views Executive Search differently than many other firms. A series of 1:1 meetings with C level feedback combined with his own experience distinguishes his search operation.

Jim sees his boutique firm as holding a competitive edge in external talent acquisition. The executive capture rate, time to fill, new hire retention rate in excess of 85% with more than 2 years tenure, and business KPIs are measures of success.

Continuously he engages in building strong professional contacts, networks, and industry knowledge to reach influencers when sourcing global candidates. His highly effective assessment processes establish the ability to source and select “winners” in The Americas, APAC, and EMEA for global organizations.

He is passionate about aligning talent and clients for best in class leadership, innovation, and “fit” in their respective markets and locations. He differentiates his searches by targeting behavior/competency based on the culture, building engagement and integration into the recruiting solution, and aligning the new executives with the existing team.

Uniquely, he acquires top leadership talent through qualitative and quantitative assessment methodologies and tools. Jim balances “IQ” and “EQ” to assess candidates for targeted competencies, domain expertise, and “style and fit”.

Since founding HARRINGTON SEARCH in 2013, his engagements with many organizations, cultures, and approaches have successfully brought together customers and outstanding candidates. Humility, analytics, careful listening, and intuition result in favorable talent acquisition and changes for the organizations served. Successful candidates reflect the factors of hard work coupled with optimism, innovation, empathy, and humble confidence.

Jim holds a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Mt. Mercy College. He is professionally certified in talent assessment tools including EQI, Conflict Dynamics Profile (CDP), Myers Briggs II, and FIRO-B.
